Kaylee & Tiger

She really does look like a squirrel.

Oh, and she's insane.  Randomly chases Tiger, jumps from place to place, twitches like she's on something.  But she's also that rare breed of cat everyone wants: a lap cat.

How to tell if cats are playing or fighting:

• Vocalization is more prominent in a fight, such as yowling, screaming, and excessive hissing.
• If blood is drawn, it's probably a fight.  Cats rarely unsheathe their claws or bite hard enough to break the skin when they are playing.
• If the cats take turns chasing each other (i.e. being the aggressor), it's playing.  Cats in a fight will not trade off roles like that.
• After a real fight, cats will avoid each other.  After playing, everything is normal.
• Test: Try to distract the cats with a noise they like (can opener, treats).  Cats in a fight will not respond.

Bed Head

Kaylee is adorable.  Her long fur is usually all neat and tidy (aside from that super-floofy tail) because she spends hours obsessively grooming herself.  But when you first wake her up in the morning, she's all disheveled with rumpled fur.  So cute!

Litter Training

I've avoided mentioning Kaylee, though we've had her around three months now, because we were trying to see if we could litter train her. She's pooped on the carpet, the couch, and even peed in Alice's old crinkle-tunnel (which made me super-sad). If we couldn't train her, we would have taken her back to the shelter. The event in the comic above was undoubtedly the lowest point of her training.  She pooped.  On the sink.  While I was washing my hands.  After cleaning her litter box.  Luckily (for us all), she's a lot better now.

Happy Zombie Family

Drew this a few months ago.  It's my ideal scenario for a zombie apocalypse.  Only goofballs want to actually survive the apocalypse -- I want to be a zombie with Alex and my kitties FOREVER!  Squee!
